The egg HAS been found!

I repeat. It has been found.

I just received the call less that two minutes ago. Details to follow!

Ahhhh.... the joys of a successful Easter Egg hunt!

In my best evil villain voice, I say "It seems everything is going exactly as planned!" Throw in a wicked laugh too.

It appears there are three distinct locations folks are searching. All three groups are of course adamant that they are in the right spot. That's the part I find entertaining. I love to hear people proclaim that it HAS to be there, that it's obvious. But are you 100% sure your spot is the right one? You know what they say about assuming...

That said, there are some that are close so don't wait until tomorrow's clue to hunt. You may wish you hadn't.

A cooler day today but no rain. Great for finding eggs in hiding.

Have fun and happy hunting!

A few reminders...

  1. When the egg is found, we will let all of you immediately know.
  2. Respectfully, please don't call the newspaper. We aren't going to help, answer questions or accidentally say anything we shouldn't. Besides nobody but me knows where it is and I can assure you, all I will tell you is the egg is still hiding. I've done this too many times.
  3. Posting clues online is not acceptable.
  4. Trying to post inaccurate information on here in an attempt to mislead other hunters is not going to cut it and I will not publish it. This contest is meant to be fun for all parties and those types of antics ruin it. In addition, I can see your internet I.P. address so while you may be anonymous publicly, we can track your comments back to your device if we find it necessary.

Please have fun and please enjoy yourself please don't ruin it for everyone else by trying to bend the rules.

Another happy Monday!

For the new folks, if the egg is found, I promise you it will be on the blog and in the HD within an hour after I am called.

Great weekend for hunting. I was out of town in South Carolina but I of course had my cell phone with me - no calls.

I was able to make a quiet run out to visit the egg in the wee hours this morning. Mr. Egg is still there so don't stress. I actually felt like someone would find it over the weekend because it seems some folks have really figured out the clues. That said everyone who has participated in these hunts knows by now I'm not going to make it obvious or easy. That will be the last time I check on it. I get nervous every time I do so I never drive my own car, carefully plan my time, etc., etc.

Anyway, I hope y'all are enjoying the hunt. Don't wait until the weekend to make it out for your next search, though. I don't think it will make it that long.

Good luck and happy hunting!

P.S. I can't even look at poison ivy without getting it so I avoid the stuff like the plague.

Only one day until Friday!

Happy Wednesday!

You'll all be happy to know I'm wearing my pink, blue, yellow, purple Easter tie just for you folks!

It seems a bit quiet which surprises me. The competition for the egg is actually less than the helmet so I would think folks would start jumping on board. We're talking a grand here!

Anyway, share your stories. Anything exciting and fun just yet? How is the Chartreuse Team holding out? Is everyone back in the country?

Post-Easter Drama!

It honestly hadn't dawned on me that with the clues coming after this weekend's easter egg hunts their would still be a lot of leftover eggs out there. I have to admit that sort of makes me grin a bit.
I bet a lot of our hunters got excited!

Good luck and happy hunting!

Two clues in the books!

It's just getting started.  I hope folks are getting on board early this year.  It does seem a bit quiet, though.

Easter Egg Treasure Hunt 2012 is on the way!

Hippity hop hop!

Once again tt’s time for the annual Herald-Dispatch Easter Egg Treasure Hunt! We have a great contest planned this year with an awesome grand prize of $1,000! No gimmicks, no catches; if you find the grand prize winning egg, we will write a check for a cool grand with your name on it!

There will be only one egg to find this season! It's worth a cool grand.

Without further ado, here are a few of the more key rules:

• If you’ve won the helmet or egg contest in the past five years, you are not eligible.

• Respectfully, please don’t call me (about the contest). I can’t and won’t answer questions or give hints. Everything you need to know is in the rules and the ads.

• Be safe. At no time in hunting for the egg are you required to put yourself in harm’s way.

• No trespassing! We will never hide the egg in a location that requires you to unlawfully enter someone’s property.

• Don’t make a mess! Just like we’ll always keep you safe and legal, we will never hide the egg in a location that requires you to tear anything up, damage landscaping or destroy property.

• Until you see it in this blog, on our website or in the newspaper, don’t believe the egg has been found. Unfortunately we’ve encountered a few not-so-nice folks who like to try and eliminate the competition. I promise, within a few minutes of receiving the call that the egg has been found, we’ll let you know!

• Finally, have fun and be courteous. This is a family-oriented contest, and we want all involved to enjoy it. That means being nice and polite when you see your fellow egg hunting sleuths out and about.

Our first clue runs Sunday, April 8.

We serve nine counties in three states. The egg could be hiding in any of those places.

Good luck and happy hunting!

It's coming...
